First Steps in Dressmaking
15 hours over 6 weeks
Have you got a sewing machine, gathering dust in a cupboard somewhere? Perhaps you have never quite plucked up the courage to use it, or maybe you gave it a go, and it all seemed too confusing? Or perhaps you used to sew, many years ago, but with the passage of time you can no longer find the confidence to try again? This workshop is a whistle stop tour of the basic capabilities of a sewing machine, giving you the confidence to set up and stitch on your own and making an attractive project for your home.

By the time you have completed the course you will be able to:
-
wind a bobbin and thread the machine ready for sewing.
-
stitch in a straight line and around corners.
-
know how to sew safely.
-
make a button hole using a 4 part method on your machine.
-
hand sew a button onto fabric.
-
create a decorative cushion cover for your home or as a gift.

Next course is running:
Wednesday 3rd November 2021 10am-1pm
at Brynmill Community Centre, Swansea.

You will need:
a cushion pad to be covered. 45cm is a good size.
3 fat quarters of cotton fabric.
A reel of Gutterman Sew All thread in a colour that coordinates with your fabric.
A 2cm button to coordinate with your fabric.
please contact me if you would like information about where to buy these things.

Or: why not purchase a "Introduction to Sewing" Kit, including all the things you need to complete the project, and a few extra goodies which will allow you to use up any excess fabric and practise you skills at home.
